What is SWIS?
SWIS, or Settlement Workers in Schools, is a school-based outreach program that aims to help newcomer students and their families settle in their schools and communities.
SWIS connects newcomer families to services and resources in the schools and communities to promote settlement and integration. The program also serves as an additional support to schools by promoting cultural awareness and understanding.

Yes, the services provided by Southeast Advocates are free. We are a not for profit and are funded by the Ministry of Immigration & Career Training. We cover Southeast Saskatchewan, so if you are unable to come to our offices, we will visit you in your community for free.
Newcomer refers to an individual moving into Southeast Saskatchewan from another country, another province or an Aboriginal community.
